Petrol bomb thrown through window in Wythenshawe

A woman and her child escaped from a house when a petrol bomb was hurled through the window in Manchester.
The 42-year-old woman was in the living room of the house on Cardew Avenue, Wythenshawe, when a brick was thrown through the window on Saturday night.
Petrol was then thrown through the gap, with some of it landing on the woman. The blinds were then set alight.
The fire was contained in the window and the woman and her child escaped unhurt.
Police are now appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
Detectives want to hear from anyone who say anything unusual in the area at the time or anyone running away from Cardew Avenue.
The offender was not seen and there is no known motive.
Det Insp Colin Larkin, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "Thankfully the fire was contained in the window.
"However, the woman was sat on her settee and the brick could have easily hit her and seriously injured her.
"The fact that some of the petrol landed on her meant she too could have been set alight so we are treating this as a very serious offence and we need to catch the offender.
"At this stage, we have no motive or description of the offender so I would appeal to anyone with information about what happened to come forward."
