Highland Council must find £12m in savings

Highland Council is to ask the public to help the local authority find almost £12m in savings over the next two financial years.

A three-month long consultation process has been launched.

The council will also consult its staff, trade unions, businesses, voluntary groups a panel made up of 2,300 people who live in the region.

The local authority will set budgets for 2013/14 and 2014/15 in February next year.

Councillors have already agreed £17.8m-worth of savings in those years.
