Police investigating the disappearance of a West Yorkshire woman nine years ago are to carry out further searches after receiving new information.

Lisa Ambler was 34 when she was last seen in Halifax in August 2003.

Officers will later search railway arches off Berry Lane, Halifax, while divers will search Salterhebble canal basin, said West Yorkshire Police.

Det Insp Steve Snow said police continued to seek "vital" information which could lead them to her.

Ms Ambler, who had two children both now in their 20s, was sleeping rough with her then boyfriend in a tent on Southowram Bank at the time of her disappearance.

Her mother died two years ago not knowing what happened to her daughter.

Following an extensive review of the case, and in response to recent information, detectives from West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET) would carry out new searches, police said.

Det Insp Steve Snow, from HMET, said: "It cannot be discounted that after all this time Lisa may well have come to some harm or sadly be dead."

Police would continue to "explore all opportunities" in their efforts to find her, he added.

Anyone with information about Ms Ambler's disappearance is being asked to contact West Yorkshire Police.
