Four injured in Salford hit-and-run crash

Four people were seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver in Salford early on Sunday.

The four, two men and two women aged between 62 and 70, were standing on the pavement on Liverpool Road when they were hit by a car at 01:05 BST.

One man, aged 62, suffered a broken pelvis in the incident and the other three suffered fractures to their legs and facial injuries.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has urged the driver to report to police.

Sgt Lee Westhead, of GMP's Serious Collision Unit, said: "Whoever is responsible has not thought twice about driving off and leaving four people seriously injured."

Of the other three people injured a woman, aged 67, suffered two broken legs and facial injuries, a 63-year-old woman suffered a serious leg fracture and a man, 70, suffered a deep cut to his leg.

The incident took place at the junction of Liverpool Road and Gorton Street close to the Unicorn Tavern.
