A charity football match in memory of a Worcestershire teacher killed in coach crash in France is being held later.

Peter Rippington, who taught PE and maths at Alvechurch School, died and more than 20 others were hurt returning from a school skiing trip in February.

A minute's applause will be held at the game between teams captained by Mr Rippington's children Max and Amy.

The game kicks off at 19:00 BST at Alvechurch Football Club's ground at Lye Meadow.

Amy Rippington said: "We don't want people to be sad and to mourn, so I think a minutes applause is quite a fitting tribute to him."

Organisers said they are expecting more than 1,000 people to come to the game.

A group of 49 pupils and staff from the school were returning from the ski trip when the coach crashed near Reims in northern France on 19 February.

The driver of the coach has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
