A woman accused of murdering a Glasgow pensioner at her flat on Christmas Day is to stand trial on 1 November.

Amanda Nicoll, 28, allegedly forced her way into Hannah Smith's flat in the city's Cranhill area last year.

She is charged with murdering the 63-year-old by stabbing her on the head and body before stamping on her.

During an appearance at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, Ms Nicoll's defence advocate entered not guilty pleas on her behalf.

She is also accused of stealing cigarettes, a set of keys, cash and a knife and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

It is claimed she hid a knife and a set of keys within the city's Cranhill Park.

Ms Nicoll is also said to have told detectives days later that two men were responsible for the murder.
