High winds hit Northern Ireland electricity supply
Published: 4th Jul 2010 16:25:24
NIE has said it is working to restore electricity to about 9,500 customers across Northern Ireland after the network was damaged by high winds.
NIE's Les Crew said engineers would be repairing lines throughout the evening.
"The high winds have brought down branches from trees and these have interfered with lines in a number of areas across the province," he said.
"Ballyclare, Ballymena, parts of Fermanagh - the 9,500 seem to be spread across the province."
He said engineers were working as quickly as possible to get supplies restored to customers.
