Seven arrested over teenager's shooting in Liverpool
Published: 21st May 2010 09:37:53
Seven men have been arrested after a teenager was shot in the leg on Merseyside in a "targeted attack".
Police were called to Harrups Croft in Netherton after gunshots were heard in the early hours.
Paramedics found an 18-year-old man in a car on Amuary Road in Crosby with two gunshot wounds to his right leg.
The victim, of Waterloo in Liverpool, is said to be in a stable condition. The arrested men are all their 20s and from the city, police said.
Detectives are investigating whether a burnt-out car discovered in Northumberland Way in Bootle a short time later is linked to the shooting.
Both scenes remain cordoned off for forensic examinations and officers are patrolling the area.
Ch Supt Tony Doherty said: "There is no place for guns on the streets of Merseyside and we will relentlessly pursue any people who are suspected of being involved in gun crime."
