Flooding is possible this weekend in parts of Surrey following heavy rainfall.

The Environment Agency said rivers had swollen their banks following the spell of bad weather.

Forecasters said the River Mole and its tributaries from Kinnersley Manor to Hersham are at risk.

The Met Office urged people to be vigilant with more heavy rain and strong winds expected throughout Sunday.

'Flood watch'

Peter Quarmby, the Thames region flood risk manager, said: "We've had quite a bit of rain during this week and, as a result, the ground is now saturated and river levels have risen.

"Our staff are out in force working tirelessly to reduce any possible risk of flooding across the region."

The agency has issued a flood watch warning, which means flooding of low-lying land and roads is expected.

The flood warning system consists of three codes, with flood watch being the least severe.
