Teen canoeist rescued from Campsie Linn Rapids
Published: 28th Nov 2011 11:02:11
A teenage canoeist was airlifted to hospital after becoming stranded in rapids on the River Tay on Sunday.
The 14-year-old girl capsized in the Campsie Linn rapids, near Stanley in Perthshire, before making it to a small island.
Tayside Police officers were joined by members of the fire and ambulance service in the first attempts to reach her at about 13:30.
She was eventually rescued by helicopter and taken to hospital.
A spokesman for Tayside Police said the girl was "shaken but uninjured". She has since been discharged from Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
