Croydon PC's attacker sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment
Published: 16th Aug 2011 17:20:46
A man has been sentenced to 12 years in jail at Kingston Crown Court after admitting stabbing a police officer in south London.
Alastair Gregson, 18, of Whitefield Avenue, Purley, will serve a minimum of six years for stabbing PC Nigel Albuery, 34, in Waddon in May.
The judge sentenced him to 10 years for gross bodily harm with intent.
He was also sentenced to a further two years to run consecutively for a separate offence.
The court heard PC Albuery was on a routine plain clothes patrol with a colleague when they stopped and searched Gregson and a group of other male teenagers on 19 May.
During the search Gregson stabbed the officer four times and fled the scene.
Gregson was one of four teenagers arrested following the incident, but the other three were later released without charge.
