Aberdeen knife attacker Gareth Kerr jailed
Published: 16th Oct 2012 15:30:11
A man who repeatedly stabbed his former partner in front of her children in Aberdeen has been jailed.
Gareth Kerr, 45, earlier admitted stabbing former girlfriend Gail McCann on the head and body during the attack in Strathmore Drive and Esk Place.
The mother was left severely injured, scarred for life and permanently impaired during the incident in 2009.
Lord Bannatyne, at the High Court in Glasgow, jailed Kerr for six years and nine months.
The judge said the attack was "vicious" and "appalling".
Ms McCann suffered 25 stab wounds to her hands and arms, three further wounds to her head and another three to her neck during the attack.
Kerr had originally been accused of attempted murder.
