Cow killed in hit-and-run crash near Sanquhar

A cow which was in calf has had to be destroyed after it was struck in a hit-and-run crash in Dumfries and Galloway.
The animal was severely injured in the accident on the B797 near to Auchengruich Farm, Sanquhar.
A spokesman for Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said the vehicle which struck the cow failed to stop after the crash.
The incident happened overnight between Sunday and Monday and officers have appealed for information.
