Four arrested after Belfast trouble
Published: 9th Aug 2012 11:34:03
Four people have been arrested after four vehicles were burnt out and petrol bombs were thrown at police Land Rovers across parts of Belfast.
Trouble began in the Divis Street, North Queen Street and Stewartstown Road areas at about 22:30 BST on Wednesday.
No-one was injured. Police have appealed for information.
Supt Barbara Gray has condemned those responsible.
"Sadly when so many are following the progress of our Olympians, a very small number of people are intent on causing disruption and mayhem and I strongly condemn their actions," she said.
"I would assure the local community that we will continue to work with them to reduce this type of behaviour and ask for their assistance with information which would bring those responsible to justice."
