A woman who was murdered in a taxi in Birmingham was a 22-year-old mother of three, police have revealed.

Natasha Trevis, from Weoley Castle, died shortly before 08:00 BST on Tuesday in the Northfield area. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination has revealed she died from multiple stab wounds.

Detectives have been given extra time to question a 28-year-old man arrested on Tuesday evening on suspicion of murder.

Officers have until Thursday morning to continue interviewing the man, who was arrested in a garden in Allen's Farm, south Birmingham.

Ms Trevis was stabbed inside the taxi near the junction of Dimsdale Road and Hoggs Lane, West Midlands Police said.

They added that the taxi driver had alerted emergency services.

Local residents said paramedics had worked for 30 minutes to try to save Miss Trevis, but she died at the scene.

A force spokesman said specialist officers were supporting the victim's family.
