Met Office warning for south west Scotland
Published: 4th Aug 2012 17:01:54
Parts of south-west Scotland have experienced exceptionally heavy rainfall.
The Met Office had issued a yellow warning of heavy thundery showers, prolonged in places.
Forecasters said there could be surface water, flooding and difficult driving conditions. The warning was valid until 22:00 on Saturday.
A further warning has been issued for similar conditions across much of southern Scotland on Sunday.
Some of the heaviest rain was in Dumfries. Events at the Dumfries Agricultural Show, being held at Park Farm, had to be curtailed.
The Met Office said 20mm of rain had fallen in the space of an hour.
