Man dies in Forfar glider crash
Published: 4th Aug 2012 15:42:02
A man has died after his glider crashed in a field.
Emergency services were called to the crash site near Forfar in Angus, at about 12:45.
Officers from Tayside Police said the man, who was in his 50s, was the only person in the aircraft and no-one else was injured.
The crash was at Roundyhill Farm. Police said the area was close to Angus Gliding School. The scene has been cordoned off by the emergency services.
The UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch has been notified and they are attending to carry out their own investigation into the incident.
Police said the name of the man will not be released until next of kin have been notified and a formal identification process has taken place.
