Man is sought over missing businesswoman Carole Waugh
Published: 26th Jul 2012 21:39:05
Police investigating the disappearance of a missing businesswoman have released CCTV images of a man they are looking for.
Carole Waugh, 50, was last seen by her family in April and there were unconfirmed reports she was seen in central London on 4 May.
Since she went missing three women have impersonated her, police have revealed.
The images were taken outside Sainsburys in Crown Road, Enfield, on 10 July.
On that date a bank card belonging to Ms Waugh was used at an ATM machine at the supermarket.
Miss Waugh, who worked for an oil company in Libya for years, was in Cumbria to visit her family at Easter and had last contacted her mother a week after the visit.
Det Ch Insp John McFarlane said: "From the inquiries since Carole has gone missing, we've established that there have been at least three women impersonating her at various locations, at various financial institutions and other premises.
"We know that there has been a man, who we haven't as yet identified, who has been impersonating Chris [her brother] who was endeavouring to raise finances and engage in the selling of her flat."
The businesswoman, who lived on Harrowby Street, Westminster, had been planning a holiday to Las Vegas with female friends.
Chris Waugh said his sister was "very frugal and careful" with her money, but was "very driven", which enabled her to buy the flat and work sporadically.
