Driver 'critical' after lorry crash at Leckwith, Cardiff
Published: 21st Jul 2012 11:04:28
A motorist is in a critical but stable condition after a crash with a lorry, which blocked one of Cardiff's main commuter routes on Friday night.
An Audi A3 car was in collision with the back of the lorry on the A4232 link road north of Leckwith, said South Wales Police.
A woman had to be cut free by fire crews and is being treated for serious injuries in the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
Police have appealed for witnesses.
The incident blocked the northbound carriageway at 20:00 BST on Friday. The southbound carriageway was also temporarily closed to allow an ambulance to reach the scene.
The ambulance crew helped fire and rescue officers free the woman, before she was taken to hospital.
South Wales Police appealed for witnesses to the collision, or to the driving of the vehicles immediately beforehand to contact the roads policing unit at Cardiff on 029 2057 1600 or their local police station.
