Bench returned to Otterton Mill after flooding

A memorial bench that was found on a Devon beach after being washed down a swollen river during floods has been returned to its owners "unscathed".

The bench was swept away from Otterton Mill, in east Devon, during floods on 7 July. It was discovered two-miles away at Budleigh Beach.

The bench was donated to the mill by the family of Judge Polson, who helped restore the site in the 1970s.

It was returned to the tourist attraction on Tuesday.

During the adverse weather the mill was extensively flooded and was forced to close for five days.

Owner Caroline Spiller said: "The bench has a definite sentimental value to the mill, so its return is a ray of sunshine after what has been a very difficult week for us."
