Motorcyclist dies after collision with bicycle on towpath

A man has died after his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a bicycle on a canal towpath in Greater Manchester.

Police were called to the area near Manchester Road in Leigh shortly before 16:00 BST.

They found the rider of the motorcycle, believed to be a 19-year-old man. He was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.

The cyclist suffered minor arm injuries, police said.

Officers said a pillion passenger of the motorbike left the scene before police arrived but has since been traced.
