Warning of possible localised flooding as heavy rain forecast for Wales
Published: 12th Jul 2012 21:43:47
People have been warned to be vigilant in case of localised flooding as further heavy rain is forecast across Wales.
A band of showers is due to affect most of south and mid Wales from Friday afternoon, continuing into the evening.
Isolated showers may be particularly heavy, with a possibility of up to 30mm of rain falling in a short period.
The advice comes after weeks of wet weather which saw severe flood damage in villages around Ceredigion in June.
Environment Agency Wales said people should listen to local weather, news and traffic reports on Friday.
There is concern on Friday that heavy showers could lead to localised flooding from drains and streams, and standing water on roads. Those on low-lying areas are also urged to be vigilant.
The agency said officers were out checking that flood defences were in good working order, and that rivers and drains were clear of blockages.
People are advised not to walk or drive through any flooding, and to take care as driving conditions may be hazardous.
The latest flood alerts and warnings are available at the environment agency's website.
