The Queen is to be presented with a silver bowl created in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter as part of her visit to the city.

She will begin in Victoria Square before taking a short tour of the city centre and then officially naming Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Chairwoman of the Birmingham Assay Officer and BBC Midlands Today presenter, Kay Alexander, will present the Queen with the bowl.

It weighs 1kg and is 99.9% pure.

Silversmith Andy MacGowan said: "It is produced with 99.9% silver.

"It has a particular shine to it and is a pleasure to work with."

Ms Alexander has been chairwoman since 2006.
