Funeral of holiday death jockey Campbell Gillies to take place
Published: 6th Jul 2012 10:24:11
The funeral of jockey Campbell Gillies is set to take place at Mortonhall Crematorium in Edinburgh.
Gillies died following a swimming pool accident while on holiday in Corfu last Tuesday, a day before his 22nd birthday.
His family will not be wearing black to the service and encouraged mourners to do likewise.
After the service, which is due to start at noon, a memorial ceremony will take place at Musselburgh racecourse.
Gillies, from Haddington, had his first Cheltenham Festival winner this year in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle.
He rode Brindisi Breeze to victory for Scottish trainer Lucinda Russell, who was among those to pay tribute to Gillies after his death.
