Man found in Lothian flat fire dies
Published: 28th Jun 2012 15:53:34
A man found unconscious in a burning flat in East Lothian has died in hospital.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in a second-floor flat in Dunbar High Street at about 11:00.
A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said three crews were at the scene and treated the man before paramedics arrived.
She said: "When officers entered the flat they found a man in his 40s unconscious."
She added: "He was taken outside and given CPR by officers.
"Before the ambulance arrived trained staff also used a defibrillator when it was found he was not breathing."
The man died a short time later in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
