Man avoided jail for Celtic Twitter comment about Peter Lawwell
Published: 24th May 2012 14:49:26
An Aberdeen man who posted a threatening Twitter comment after Celtic's chief executive said the club did not need Rangers has avoided jail.
Ryan MacDonald, 21, wrote "Lawwell needs a bullet simples!!!" about Peter Lawwell in February.
He earlier admitted breach of the peace by sending the message.
At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Sheriff Wendy Sheehan ordered 70 hours of community service and issued a football banning order for three years.
She said: "If you did not realise then I am sure you realise now the message posted was of a highly threatening and offensive nature and quite simply has no place in our society."
