Body found after boat fire on River Avon in Bath
Published: 15th Apr 2012 11:05:34
A 40-year-old man has died and a second man is taken to hospital following a fire on board a boat in Bath.
The cabin cruiser, which was moored close to Pulteney Bridge, was still burning when emergency services were called shortly after 06:20 BST.
Avon and Somerset Police said one man had died at the scene and a 30-year-old man, from Swindon, is being treated at hospital for serious burns.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
"The boat involved was a typical cabin cruiser type with accommodation to the front and a raised wheelhouse area to the rear," said a spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue.
"It was moored on the Riverside Walk, opposite Parade Gardens, and had another small boat tied alongside.
"This boat was also damaged by the fire."
