Edward Syad burglary murder suspect charged

A man has been charged with murdering a 64-year-old who was tied up and attacked in a burglary at his home in south-east London.

Edward Syrad and his wife Anne were targeted at their home in Edendale Road, Barnehurst, on 25 January.

Mr Syrad was threatened with a gun and assaulted.

Gezim Delijah, 37, of no fixed abode, has been charged with murder and aggravated burglary and will appear in court in Bromley on Monday.

Post-mortem tests showed Mr Syrad, who had given up work due to his poor eyesight, died of numerous blunt trauma injuries and heart failure.

His wife, who runs a building and property company, needed hospital treatment following the burglary in which she was also tied up.

Cash was taken in the raid.
